Tooth Whitening

But a few people have amazingly white teeth, especially after they lose their deciduous teeth, which are generally whiter than the adult teeth that follow. As a person ages, teeth often become darker due to changes in the size of the tubules within the tooth, which shrink, and as a result, the enamel becomes less porous.

Everyone is different, and just like skin tone and hair colour, tooth colour varies between individuals as well. As we age, our teeth can become stained by various bacterial pigments, foods, drinks, a lack of oral hygiene and tobacco stains, and it is also possible for certain antibiotics to cause tooth staining.

Bellissima Facial Aesthetics can offer our professional consultations and tooth whitening treatment to reduce the staining of your teeth, by lightening the existing shade of colour. If you are interested in booking a consultation with Dr C V Elliott BDS, please contact us.

Treatment Procedure

After an initial consultation and examination, an impression of your teeth is taken using a mould, which will be used to construct bespoke trays to fit your teeth. The moulding process takes only a matter of minutes to complete, after which the impressions of your teeth will be sent away for the trays to be produced. Once the trays are ready, you are supplied with the whitening agent, a gel, and shown how to use it.

Length of Procedure

Once you have the gel and your trays, along with your usage instructions, which would normally be to wear the trays overnight, the treatment will usually take between 1-3 weeks, depending on the darkness and suitability of your teeth.
